"Keralan Cooking refinined to an exceptional standard"

Observer Food Monthly

"The service, the food and overall experience was exceptional. Kerala cuisine is incredibly fresh, light and fragrant; you are left satisfied, without the usual bloated feeling. Mint & Mustard is a gourmet pleasure and if you haven’t already been, go and be surprised and delighted."

Buzz Magazine

"The Mint and Mustard redefines Indian cuisine through innovative, beautifully presented food, creating an unforgettable dining experience."

South Wales Echo

"With a Bib Gourmand 2012 Award – Michelin Guide; Best Restaurant runner-up 2012 Observer Food Monthly; South Asian Chef Competition Innovation Award 2011; it is clear as to why this restaurant has already found such great success – and will likely continue to do so. Success not just from a seemingly flawless and varied menu, but also from the plate of food put in front of you.

The presentation and taste? Perfection. Service? More than sufficient but not rushed or pushy. Big Bonus Point. Atmosphere? A cosy bubble where you can contently identify couples and some small groups chatting, smiling and enjoying their food."

From Trip Advisor:

A select but quality menu with a difference.

"I visited the new Taunton restaurant and have to say this type of upmarket Indian is refreshing. A small but select menu different from tradition, not cheap but you pay for the quality and ambiance and this restaurant has it. The service is very professional and its a very comfortable place to eat. A place to go when you want to spend a bit more, and enjoy a meal with a difference. Definitely worth a try for fans of this type of food."

“Outstanding....”

The menu is too long and has never changed since I've been going, however, it is the best Indian I have ever eaten at. And, by Jove, I have eaten at many.

Indian flavours meet fine dining

"We visited for a birthday celebration and opted for the tasting menu. It was an excellent way to sample a variety of dishes from the menu. The food was faultless and we enjoyed the presentation of each plate. Each course was introduced by the attentive waiters. The wine list was varied and reasonably priced in comparison with the main meals.

We look forward to returning many times to work our way through the dishes on the main menu."

I had high hopes - and they were exceeded!

"
I had been looking forward to visiting Mint & Mustard for about 2 years, and the place did not fail to impress.

This is possibly the best restaurant in Cardiff, and certainly the best Indian.

The service was courteous and efficient, my boyfriend and I ordered wine and shared the starter platter, each starter was well presented and full of flavor. The poppadoms and chutney were delicious - the chutney was parsnip flavored which really showed the British twist on classic India. I ordered a chicken curry and my boyfriend has Syrian beef, both were stunning. I can't say enough good thing about this restaurant, it is so far above and beyond any other restaurant I have tried."

Indian Masterclass and Superb Lunch

"My wife and I went over to Cardiff after getting a "Masterclass" course at the Mint and Mustard for a wedding present a while back. We arrived to be greeted with a mock kitchen set up in the main dining space, complete with pots of various herba and spices and all the ingredients needed to make what turned out to be 3 superb dishes.

The chef and the "course manager" were brilliant throughout the whole experience. Demonstrating the methods used to cook the the 3 dishes and answering all our question with aplomb. We then sat down to feast on the results: lamb coconut fry, a sworfish curry and vegetable stir fry. But not before sampling an excellent starter of tandoori paneer chicken and a sort of cold mint yoghurt and cream cheese filled pastry, delicious.

The meal was finished with a desert of chocolate samosa, caramel banana and vanilla ice cream.

The food was some of the best Indian cuisine I have had, the chefs and staff obviously very passionate about the high standards they strive for. I look forward to visiting the restaurant for an evening meal..."
